Music is a language and just like an alphabet, it has its own set of symbols. The purpose of this workbook is to introduce pre-service teachers to the language of music in a fun and interactive way. The workbook aims to familiarise students with both musical symbols and concepts of music which can then be followed up with discussion and practical activities in their tutorials. Each chapter is designed to be completed before each tutorial so that the language of music can be introduced in small, manageable chunks. This is also a method to show students how concepts can be broken down and taught sequentially for the maximum education benefit. Bedrock: Foundations of Music will ensure students develop a solid foundation in music theory.
