Author biography
Richard Bolstad is a father and grandfather. He has taught communication skills to parents, teachers, health professionals, counsellors and business people. Richard has a doctorate in Clinical Hypnotherapy and is a nurse (RCpN), teacher (Dip Tchg Tert), psychotherapist (NZAP), herbalist (Dip Herb) and an instructor in Chinese Chi Kung (a system for moving energy around the body, related to acupuncture). He is a master practitioner and trainer (INLPA) in Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP). He runs training courses each year in New Zealand, Asia, America and Europe. The original draft of this book was written with his partner Margot Hamblett, who died in 2001, and with cross-cultural advice from Te Hata Ohlson and Jan Hardie. This current text is written with advice from Robin Fabish (Ngti Maniapoto) and Sharron Fabish (née Koopu, Te Whnau a Apanui, Ngti Kahungunu). Robin and Sharron have three young children from whom they learn a great deal in the application of the Transforming Communication skills! A large focus for both of them is promoting understanding between Pakeha and Maori culture in Aotearoa. Robin also has his own business and teaches the Transforming Communication model to company managers and workers. He also teaches the model to primary and secondary teachers.
