Through Sails Poetry students will:
- be encouraged to love poetry
- be encouraged to respond to rhyme and rhythm
- extend and enrich their vocabulary
- be exposed to the sight and sounds of language in a non-threatening way
- receive practice in fluency (flow, phrasing, pace)
- be exposed to enriching vocabulary
- have their knowledge of print conventions, phonological patterns and phonic knowledge in context reinforced
Sails Poetry Series Years 3 contains a full-colour poetry card for each poem in the Year 3 series. The poems can be displayed electronically in the classroom. Accompanying the poetry cards are guide notes suggesting a teaching plan for each poem in the series. The blackline masters in this CD provide opportunities for children to interpret each poem visually and can be printed off for use in their poetry books.
