Pearson Accounting/Finance Lecturer of the Year Award

Winner of the 2010 award – Dr Monte Wynder, University of the Sunshine Coast.
Pearson Australia is pleased to announce that the winner of the Accounting/Finance Lecturer of the Year Award for 2010 is Dr Monte Wynder,
University of the Sunshine Coast. The judging panel, comprised of the Education Directors of CPA Australia, the NZICA and the ICAA, found
Dr Wynder's application displayed a strong record of excellence in teaching, demonstrated his command of the subject material as well as of
recent developments in the field. They felt that he had used his research abilities to thoroughly investigate accounting education and had
published this work in some excellent journals. Dr Wynder has previously been recognised for his contribution to teaching, most recently being
awarded the 2010 Vice-Chancellor’s Medal for Learning and Teaching (University of the Sunshine Coast) as well as a 2009
Australian Learning & Teaching Council (ALTC) citation for Outstanding Contributions to Student Learning.
The judges also acknowledged the contribution Kerry Humphreys of the University of New South Wales has made to
Accounting education and have awarded her a Highly Commended certificate.
This award, aimed at encouraging and recognising innovative teaching practices in Accounting and Finance, recognises outstanding contributions to teaching in terms of:
- Interest and enthusiasm for teaching
- Promoting student learning
- Imaginative presentation of course material
- Command of the subject matter
- Participation in professional activities and research relating to teaching
